French Tour 2007 - Format

The teams have been chosen according to a system of handicap balancing and style of play.

We play the front nine of the 'final day' singles when we arrive (first day) and the back nine on the Friday morning before we depart.

If there is time (light) for more holes on day one than 9, the extra holes will count for nothing but practice and familiarisation with the course.

Another thought is that Roger and I be on separate sides, and go out in separate groups on the first day, as we know 'roughly' where we're going on the course and can give as much hole information as we can remember(!) to the other three players.

The more I think about the above the more it makes sense - to me! So, after a skype with Josh the following has been decided:

Team A: v Team B:
Bernie (capt) 15     v Josh (capt) 16 "The captains"
Devina 12       v Maud 5 "The big hitters"
Paul 13  v Alban 14      "The old enemies"
Nobby 9        v Reg 13  "The originals"

The handicaps are balanced as closely as possible, 49~48.

On day one we go out as Team A first and Team B second. We play out every hole and do 'fantasy matchplay' when we get in.

The Friday morning back 9 we go head to head in the actual pairings shown above, completing the 'fantasy' round begun four days earlier!

Days 2, 3 and 4 will be 4 ball better balls - I think.

The above pairings also share rooms; i.e. Josh & Bernie, etc.

Results

"Viking Bernie's team fought magnificently and secured victory over Josh's warriors by a scoreline that did not reflect the closeness of the contest but did reverse last year's result"

We all had a Fantastic time!!!!!!!
