Thought this was apt at the moment.........

Little white golf ball please tell me of the trick
to hitting you down the middle with this skinny little stick.

I try to keep my left arm straight - my head is always down -
but still I see my best attempt go dribbling on the ground.

Why do I pull you to the left, or slice you to the right?
What will it take to hit you straight until you're out of sight?

The money spent on lessons - all the practice balls I hit
only adds to my frustration when it doesn't help a bit.

For even when I do things right it only lasts a while.
It never seems like very long before I lose my smile.

Little golf ball please tell me of the trick
to hitting you down the middle with this skinny little stick.

Touring pics (old & new)!

Well done Roy for harnessing the power/convenience of Flickr with our humble blog.

If you click now on the GALLERY tab you can view a slideshow of our trips to Ayr in 2004 and Brora in 2006. Furthermore, if you click the France 2007 link and then 'Pics 1' under 'Photos' on the right hand side of the page, you get advance course views and information about this October's trip to Villeneuve-sur-Lot; how clever is that?

Enjoy!!!

Bernie Toper - Non chevra

Does anyone remember where, why and when Bernie performed this classic act?

Swedish Mini-Golf putting lesson 2

In this clip there is a similarity with yours truly - note the Swedish swearing at the end!

Both clips are of Johanna'a dad (Mike's father-in-law) whilst he was practising at the local Stockholm 'course' prior to our visit last month. It paid off - he beat me convincingly!
He is also a very lovely man who, it has to be said, is a trifle eccentric - but he is a mathematics teacher!!!!

Notice the similarity to Alban's body sway; this man beat me easily, but how?

Come on guys, it's getting embarrassing!

As one of the longest established and certainly most revered golfing 'societies' on the planet with readers throughout the universe, and possibly beyond, we should be setting higher standards. Things are slipping; all is not well; there are people tittering at us from the shadows!

I am not referring to Alban's choice of socks here, though they are questionable, but to our recent scoring record. Apart from Vera's magnificent round at Royal North Devon it has been abysmal of late and must improve.

Now I know that an easy and convenient explanation lies in the fact that we're having too much fun out there but come on! This game is serious stuff and surely it is not asking too much that we can still enjoy ourselves but play better?

Just in case Bernie reads this I'll not say where we're playing next week, but let's get some decent scores on the board and restore a modicum of decency to the results page.
Reg will be missing (poor chap is on duty in Montreux with Mrs Soarover) but hopefully the remainder will all come in with at least 33 points with the winner carding 38.
