Welcome to Devina and Bernie!

Well done and welcome to Devina and Bernie for signing on as authors of the blog; waiting to see their first postings!!

Thank goodness the blog has come back to life, I was getting worried that we had all lost interest and had seen the last of it!!!

Hope that Jackie gets rid of the cold in time for her big day but Nobby can keep hold of his so we have a chance to get some £'s back tomorrow!

I would be happy to play at Mullion or anywhere thats as dry under foot!

Golf tomorrow

Nobby is obvioulsy in need of some readies. Josh & I seem to be the one's who fill his coffers more often than others, so it might prove more economical for the two of us to have a standing order in his favour. I am needed in Bristol tomorrow evening, so if we play Mullion, I would have to give it a miss. I think a seaside location is vital as the weather has been so wet, and the forecast is poor for tomorrow. If I can't make it, I will send Nobby, or maybe Reg, a few quid in compensation!

wot - no posts?

I know we've all been a bit busy recently; Reg & Vera with the sales, Paul with COG business, Alban and Josh with whatever consumes their time and me with my open cast mining but, come on boys, we must have something to blog about!

Congratulations must go to Henrik Stenson for winning the Accenture World Match Play event and to Justin Rose and Paul Casey also for reaching the last eight and picking up loads of dosh.

Alban is trying hard to find a home for the GOB boat within easy reach of the water. I need to get it shifted by Friday and will need Paul or Josh's tow hitches to move it, please.

As I type this it has started to rain again; what joy after such a dry winter!

Jackie has had a very nasty old fashioned chesty cold since last Friday and I have had it since Saturday. Aparently just about all St Austell has it so it's just a matter of time before you do.
However, it is not flu but just a nasty cold so no-one can jib out of wednesday with it as an excuse! How about Mullion this week???

Eventful Day!

We had an eventful day at St.Austell yesterday while Nobby and Reg were happily drinking red wine in front of a roaring log fire in France.

We met at 12.30 in the clubhouse for a pre match drink and play on Albans new "20 Questions" gadget that we were told is never wrong, except on our first two attempts! It may need re-booting Alban?!

Non the worse for drink we went out to get ready. You would expect this from one or two of our more senior GOB's but would you believe that Vera, yes Vera not Josh, had forgotten to bring his clubs! on a golf day! Quick thinking and £20 later Vera was geared up with with a set from Mr Pitts.

Josh, feeling a bit under the weather decided to take half a set of clubs out, then on the tee thought better of it and went back to the car to get them all. After teeing off he then decided to go and get a trolley as they are now too heavy to carry, so off he jogged, there and back as we sauntered up the first fairway - no wonder he was knackered!!

We played our usual format and also had a better ball matchplay; Paul and Vera v Josh and Alban who eventually won on the seventeenth with a birdie from Alban (no it was not lucky?!).

The most exciting part of the day was the skins match. No winner of a skin until the 10th Hole! It was nip and tuck through nine holes with jaws dropping on almost every green from one of us who thought they won them!

The 6th saw Alban putt a 20 footer in for a par when Paul just missed a birdie putt, halved hole; the 7th saw Josh sink a 15 footer for birdie making Paul's 3 foot birdie attempt seem even harder, he got it for another half; Alban hit a wonderful second shot to reach the 8th green in two, left his birdie putt short but got his par with a good 6 footer leaving Paul to chip up and down for his par, hole halved; Alban, Paul and Josh all challenged on the 9th halving the hole.

The 10th was the decider for 11 skins (one added from last week). Josh and Vera shot wide, one either side of the green with Vera in a bunker. Alban put a great shot on the green for one. Paul got to the front bank for one and then chipped to 4 feet; Alban putt past by 5/6 feet and then sank the putt back for a par!!! Paul missed :(((( handing 11 skins to Alban - well done :((((( nobody spoke to him for a while and especially as he went on to pick up another 5 during the remainder of the game. 16 bloody skins!

Luckily for Paul, Alban was now too excited with his booty and dropped a few shots allowing Paul to take the other matches. Josh was cold and tired and Vera, trying to remember how he forgot his clubs, missed them badly. Apart from the odd tantrum we all had a great day - roll on next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bon Voyage Reg and Nobby!

Reg Soarover and Nobby Shit will start their reconnaissance trip to France tomorrow Monday 5th February 2007.

They are on a mission to find the best sleeping, eating and drinking places to ensure that the October 2007 GOBDO Tour will be as successful as all the previous tours.

Good luck and return safe and well from all the GOB's
