Wanna go home

Friday, January 19, 2007

Hi Mon, from Ocho Rios!

How you all doing? At last I just got some time to play on the internet, 11.20 pm, just got back from dinner/bar feeling stuffed and full of some kind of booze. No, there is no Guinness here!

We all having great time here, weather not at its best but very warm. It rains here much harder and heavier than Cornwall!

Its nice to see the blog and thanks to Nobby for nice comments!

Thank goodness the previous blog was just a dream, I was getting worried reading it. Looks like Nobby's is still bagging the cash - me is looking forward to a challenge on my return!

Closest I got to golf was today on a small 9 hole, par 3 pitch and put on very odd grass! Mrs Norry gave me a hell of a scare hitting some great shots. She started with a par then got two more during the game! A rising star!

Picture above is of our beach, great place here and the Jamaicans are fantastic people! Look forward to getting back, and see you soon!

What a difference 10 days make!

One minute we're all trundling along like we always do, the next . . . all change!

Alan has gone back to China; he liked it so much that he intends spending most of his time over there now and just coming home for the odd week occasionally. I hope he has better luck on this trip than his last, when he was thrown in jail overnight for trying to smuggle 5,000 herring gull eggs into Hong Kong.

There was 'hell-up' at Rosevear's today; power lines came down and cut the electricity supply which in turn blew out their expensive new telephone and computer system. This was the last straw for Roger and he had an almighty row with Barbara and he just quit!
Barbara and Gary weren't going to let him get away with it so they shut the shop and went home too. Now I gather that they're all going on an extended round the world cruise and won't be seen again for months. They've left Rob in charge which is no good to me because he doesnt play golf yet.

John left the area last week. He's gone off on his new motorbike to tour round the balkans and, if he likes it as much as he expects to, he'll carry on then in the direction of Siberia. He did mutter something about emulating the exploits of someone called McGregor who went the 'wrong way around' but, as usual, I've got no idea what he's talking about.

Now this is all very well but it is adversely affecting my income! You all know that I'm a pensioner and, what with Roy being in Jamaica for yet another Wednesday, I'm starting to feel the pinch!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I've just woken up from the above and, thank God, it was all a bad dream! Everything is exactly as you left it and I've got my usual Thursday morning bulge in the trouser pocket!

I've kept the scorecards from a windy Perranporth last week and a muddy Falmouth this week for you Roy. Hope you're having a 'reet grand 'oliday' northern lad and we'll see you in another week or so.

You need a holiday!

Well done Roy, and a BIG thank you from us all for working so hard throughout the past couple of years organising our venues, games and website. If we were blessed with all year round sunshine we would be so busy playing golf that we would have no time to blog, but we're not, and it gives us all something to trawl through when it's pissing down outside.
Have a great holiday and we'll see you when you get back.

The unluckiest euchre player in the world

In addition to being the unluckiest golfer in the world, it is now apparent that Josh is also the unluckiest euchre player in the world. I just hope Josh doesn't start playing the piano!

Great start to the new year!

Our day at St.Austell was extremely enjoyable even with the odd gale force wind and torrential downpour!

Nobby won again with grit and determination - a great back nine and final five holes only dropping one shot and then picking it up again with a great chip in birdie on the 18th!!

Well done Nobby / Barney!

What a great picture

Whoever compiled the picture on the home page has done a brilliant job. I am so pleased to see that Reg is now chipping left-handed as this will obvioulsy make things a bit harder for him. I am a bit worried about Burns who appears to be trying to look down my shorts. And is that Josh doing that old trick of trying to put off Reg by throwing a putter at him while he is chipping? Nothing changes!
