Nobby's Back

Well done to Nobby Shit for his win yesterday at St.Enodoc.

Having put together a score of 19 points on the front nine, one point ahead of Paul, 4 ahead of Vera and a whopping 9 points ahead of Reg who has been unbeatable for the last three weeks, he went on to take the match with some very good consistent golf.

The turning point in the match came on the 9th Hole where Nobby hit a fantastic drive, superb approach shot and great putt for a birdie and 4 points! It was nip and tuck for a couple of holes with Paul who eventually fell out of contention. Reg continued to struggle but Vera put on a late surge to finish just 2 points behind.

The team match play was won on the 17th by Nobby and Vera who got their revenge on Reg and Paul for the Carlyon Bay drubbing last week!

A great GOBDO on a great course! Looking forward to next week!

As I have not been playing much golf lately and getting a bit house bound
Sarah took me out for a walk to give me an airing!!

It was a fantastic day and the the walk was more like a hill climb!

Can anyone guess where it is from the pics..........?

Where to find good weather?

Whats happened to our Wednesday Weather?

I think the weather has got out of sync with the days or is confused as to where we are!

It looks nice up at Brora today so if anyone is up for it Lets Go!

Forecast is for things to start wet (as it is) and get wetter as the day goes on - hope they got it wrong this time!

Hope to see you all later - maybe 9 holes at St.Austell if we get a gap in the clouds............................................:((((((((((((.

Sights from China

This vast underground shopping complex has 2000 traders selling everything under the sun. Haggling is essential. I bought a pair of golf shoes and two golf gloves for £16. Electronic gear really cheap, probably from 1/4 to 1/2 the price of same in UK (albeit probably a copy!) jealous of you playing golf today, but this is such an amazing place that it will take a lot of getting used to. Have fun today. This complex was built to take the money from the visitors from Macau who pour over the border to get cheap Chinese goods then carry them on hand drawn trailers back home again. The amount of money entering China is collosal. The 21st century is arriving at a rate of knots. Still lots of communist influences. Video cameras in hotel on every corridor But the people seem happy. Much to tell next week.

Hi from China

What a fascinating place this is. It makes me feel quite humble seeing so many people trying to scratch a living, working all the hours in awful conditions. We are so fortunate. And Josh thinks he is unlucky when his ball lands somewhere unsavoury! Off today to meet the people at the factory where they will be making my invention. This promises to be such an interesting trip. If you need anything at all, let me know. For instance, tee shirts are 40p each, woks under £1, dried fruit about 8p per packet. Anything small I can get for you.

Cheers from Guan Dong ( I think that's where I am!)

Will chat again in a day or so.

Where would the unluckiest golfer in Scotland's ball land?

.

Reg cleans up again

A sensational display of chipping skills enabled Reg to win for the second successive week. The awful weather did not dampen his spirits. Josh was suffering from mild to moderate hypothermia, but managed to last the whole course. Luck had only a small part to play in this magnificent victory, by 7 Stableford points over the next highest scores. It won't be long before calls are made for a handicap reduction.

The Sleeping Giant Awakes!

It's official - he's back - he's a golfer for Christ's sake!

No, I'm not writing about Seve (though his game is coming along nicely I'm told), I mean Reg - "The King" and founder member of the GOBs.

After 'years' in the wilderness
looking for his game . . .
it returned at Okehampton.

He put the 'young pretender' Vera firmly in 'her' place and positively 'slaughtered' this humble scribe 5 and 4.

Try as I might, I couldn't even 'make a game of it'

Welcome back Reg . . . long live "The King"

Hello from Venice!

At last we have found internet access that works!

We are having a fantastic time here. Everything we have heard is true and even better! We have walked our socks off and been on every boat possible.

We went on a gondola today in the sunshine which was bliss! (we did sing just one cornetto but our rendition has been banned so no recording or pictures allowed!)

Hope you had a great GOBDO today - see you soon

Mr and Mrs Norry :))

When Paul's away . . . we've nothing to say?

I guess we haven't really; I'm just logging this so that Paul will have something new to read when he logs on to see what's happening to 'his' weblog!
Josh and I didn't play in the comp yesterday due to lack of space and light. We played 11 holes with Graham and Jackie Nile and got soundly stuffed. John's ball striking was a bit rusty and my putting was pathetic. St Austell greens are much faster than Bude; no kidding, they really are!
Mrs Shit and I went over to Polzeath today and had a nice lunch with Richard, Vicki, Sophie, Jo (Vicki's Mum), Tom, Lindsey and Morgan (all down for the weekend from Weston-super-mare.
Another gloriously clear and sunny day.
It was such a nice day that we almost forgot Sophie and left her on the beach!
Accoring to Firefox/Accudate weather it's 48 degrees F and clear outside and the fireworks are still filling the sky; getting quite smoky outside. Have a good break Paul - and Mrs Norry!

Nobby Cleans up at Bude!

Nobby Shit had a great round at Bude yesterday shooting a net 69, two shots under his handicap! It could have been much more as Reg pushed him to the end with a very respectable 71!

Vera and Paul lost the pairs match play against the "wise ones" and ended up with net scores of 78 and 74 respectively.

The weather was bright and sunny but got cold later. Darkness came down on us as we were finishing the 18th!

Bude 1.14 pm Tee Time

Hi,
We are booked to play at Bude today at the abve time. We need to be there at 12.45 to prepare for an on time tee off to ensure we have good light on the 18th for that putt to win all those skins!!.

Hope Josh's ankle is better!

I am just a little envious of those of you who will be playing today. What a lovely day for golf this is. Have fun
